OVERVIEW

Securing the capital's power supply

The 20 MW IPP Plant continuously supplies power to N'Djamena's distribution networks and surrounding industrial zones. Built as an Independent Power Producer (IPP), it relies on multi-fuel thermal units operated by ENERSO for the full duration of the contract.

ENERSO oversaw the entire lifecycle of the infrastructure, from engineering studies to day-to-day operations and maintenance, working directly with the National Electricity Company (SNE).

TECHNICAL & LOGISTICAL CHALLENGES

Grid reliability and extreme climate conditions

  • Reliability in Sahelian climate

Design of active cooling systems to guarantee thermal unit reliability under high ambient temperatures.

  • Fuel logistics

Secure delivery and buffer storage of fuel to guarantee continuous supply without disruption.

THE ENERSO RESPONSE

Digitally managed hybrid operations

ENERSO deployed a redundant SCADA supervision system paired with digital preventive maintenance, smoothing the load curve and maintaining contractual availability above 95% since commissioning.

IMPACT & RESULTS

Critical performance indicators validated by SNE

12,000 t

CO2 Emissions Avoided

Reduction in carbon footprint by replacing the isolated diesel units previously in use.

60,000+

Households Connected

Equivalent power supply capacity supporting the growth of surrounding neighborhoods.

95%+

Contractual Availability

Guaranteed availability rate under O&M standby duty since commissioning.

-10%

Production Cost

Reduction in the average unit cost per kWh injected compared to isolated diesel solutions.
